Russian drone struck near the Yahodyn checkpoint on the border with Poland

A Russian strike drone hit a facility near the international checkpoint "Yahodyn — Dorohusk" in Volyn, approximately 800 meters from the Polish border. Polish military and border guards confirmed the attack.

As TVN24 reports, a spokesman for the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, Jacek Goryszewski, said the Russian drone struck directly near the Dorohusk — Yahodyn border crossing, but on the Ukrainian side of the border.

The incident occurred on the morning of September 13 during a massive Russian attack on the western regions of Ukraine. According to the Polish Border Guard, the drone hit a truck approximately 800 meters from the state border. A fire broke out after the explosion.

Suspilne reported that the strike hit a service area near the checkpoint. A gas station was damaged, nearby trucks caught fire, and a local store was also damaged.

According to preliminary information from the scene, two drivers were slightly injured. There were no casualties on the Polish side.

At the same time, the Yahodyn checkpoint itself was not hit by Russian weapons. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine emphasized that no strikes on the state border line or checkpoint infrastructure were recorded.

After the necessary measures were completed, the Ukrainian checkpoint continued operating normally. The Polish side temporarily suspended processing at the crossing during the Russian attack for security reasons, after which traffic was restored.

The attack also caused alarm on the Polish side of the border. Sirens were activated in the Lubelskie Voivodeship, and residents of several border districts received RCB alerts about the threat of an air strike.

Polish military also scrambled aviation and put ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems on high alert. According to Warsaw, Russian drones operated in close proximity to Polish territory during this attack, but no violation of Polish airspace was recorded.

Goryszewski then called the threat to Poland "real and close". According to him, Russian drones struck targets just a few kilometers from the country's border.

After a series of Russian attacks on western Ukraine, Polish authorities strengthened security measures at border crossings. The Polish Ministry of Interior reported that six checkpoints in the Lubelskie and Podkarpackie voivodeships were put on high alert. The presence of military personnel was also increased in the border zone, and additional security procedures were introduced.
