Russian Tu-95MS bomber crashes in Amur region

A Russian strategic missile-carrying bomber Tu-95MS crashed on Tuesday, September 29, near the village of Krasnoyarovo in the Amur region of Russia.

The first footage from the crash site was published by the Telegram channel Exilenova+. It shows aircraft debris and a large fire.

Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the Tu-95 crash. According to the agency, the aircraft was on a training flight and was airborne without ammunition.

The Russian side claims there were seven crew members on board. Six of them died, one was injured and taken to hospital. There is no independent confirmation of this data yet.

The cause of the crash has not been officially established. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported sending a commission of the Aerospace Forces to investigate the circumstances. Several Russian Telegram channels publish versions about a technical malfunction, but there is no official confirmation.

The Tu-95MS is one of the main strategic missile carriers of Russia's long-range aviation. The aircraft is designed to carry long-range cruise missiles. Russia uses bombers of this type, in particular, to launch Kh-101 missiles during massive strikes on Ukraine.

The Ukrainka airbase is located in the Amur region and serves as one of the bases for Russian strategic aviation. It hosts, among others, Tu-95MS aircraft.
