Samsung introduced a new generation of flagship Android tablets, the Galaxy Tab S12, and the third version of its item tracker, the Galaxy SmartTag. Sales of the new products will begin in October in select markets.

The most significant update among the tablets went to the Galaxy Tab S12+. It features a 12.6-inch OLED display with peak brightness up to 1600 nits, a new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, and a 10,600 mAh battery. Notably, the tablet is thinner and lighter than its predecessor.

The price has increased along with the specs. The base Galaxy Tab S12+ in the US will cost from $1199 – about $200 more than the previous model. The flagship Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at $1399.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra received a less extensive update: Samsung mainly swapped the processor and improved the audio system, keeping the familiar format of a large flagship tablet. Both models have OLED screens, IP68 water and dust resistance, and come with an S Pen stylus.

Samsung also promises seven years of Android updates for the new tablets. Additionally, the Galaxy Tab S12 will be one of the first Android platforms for the tablet version of Adobe Photoshop. For the first six months, the app will be available through the Galaxy Store as an exclusive for Samsung devices.

Simultaneously, the company introduced the Galaxy SmartTag 3. The new tracker is about 35% smaller and a third lighter than the SmartTag 2. It runs on a replaceable CR2032 battery for up to 550 days in normal mode and up to 790 days in power-saving mode.

The SmartTag 3 supports Bluetooth 6.0 and UWB for more precise finding on compatible devices. For the first time, Samsung has expanded the tracker's functionality to iPhone: iOS users will be able to participate in shared tracking scenarios, though the tracker's finding network itself will continue to be based on Galaxy Find Network. The Verge reports that this should simplify, in particular, sharing the location of items or pets between users of different platforms.

In the US, the SmartTag 3 will cost $29.99 for a single device or $99.99 for a four-pack. In South Korea, sales start on October 7, and in the US in early November.
