Ukrainian-founded company Osavul raised €8.5M in a Series A round to develop its AI platform that helps detect hybrid threats - from information operations and cyberattacks to sabotage and physical threats. After the new round, the total funding raised by the company grew to approximately €12M.

The round was led by European fund 33N Ventures, which specializes in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and dual-use technologies. Balnord, G+D Ventures and existing Osavul investor - German fund 42CAP - also participated in the investment.

The company plans to use the new funds for further AI development, expansion of the commercial team, and entry into new markets. A separate focus will be working with large businesses and critical infrastructure operators - energy, transportation, financial, and other companies that may be targets of hybrid attacks.

The Osavul platform analyzes open and client-available closed data sets and looks for connections between information campaigns, cyber threats, and events in the physical environment. The company claims that its systems process about 1 billion data points monthly and cover over 100 countries.

Osavul also works with government and defense structures. The company's technologies are used within NATO's Information Environment Assessment Capability project. According to Osavul itself, its solutions are already deployed in more than 50 organizations in over 10 countries.

The company was founded by Ukrainians Dmytro Pleshakov and Dmytro Bilash in 2022. Previously, they together developed the marketing AI startup Captain Growth, which was later sold to Israeli company Perion. Currently, Osavul's headquarters is located in Luxembourg.

Initially, Osavul's technology was largely developed based on experience countering threats related to Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. Now the company plans to transfer the tools developed for government and defense structures to the commercial market.
