Sybiha spoke about agreements with Hungary: there will be a law on education
The Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Hungary held a meeting in New York, which until now had not been publicly reported, according to Європейська правда.
This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andrii Sybiha at a meeting with journalists in Kyiv.
Sybiha emphasized that the meeting took place despite the recent diplomatic escalation after the Carpathian Initiative summit, but was successful.
"In New York we met with Anita Orbán. We maintain contact. She plays a constructive role, I value our interaction", he said.
According to him, after those talks the Hungarian minister stated that she does not rule out the possibility of participating in the "Carpathian Eight".
The minister also emphasized that in parallel, Minister Orbán "is having contacts with Deputy Prime Minister Vsevolod Chentsov on the European direction".
"We hope that we will achieve a result to unblock our further advancement into the European Union", the minister said and linked this decision to the adoption of amendments to the law "On Education".
"We have a draft of the corresponding law. And I hope that a special session of the Verkhovna Rada will take place, at which, in addition to the European legislative package, the bill on national minorities will be considered – we are talking about changes in the legislation on education. This will affect not only the Hungarian minority, it will affect all minorities living in Ukraine", he said.
