Russia began installing a localized domestically produced engine on a new modification of the "Geran-4" jet drone, replacing the Chinese Telefly turbojet. Production of the analogue was organized in the special economic zone "Alabuga", where these drones are assembled.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which released the results of a study of the new version of the "Geran-4" that began to be used by Russian forces in the fall of 2026.

The previous version of the drone used the Chinese LX-WP-160 turbojet engine produced by Telefly Telecommunications Equipment. According to new HUR data, in the modernized devices it was replaced by a Russian analogue localized in Alabuga.

However, Russia has not fully managed to eliminate dependence on imported electronics. Other electronic units and components, according to Ukrainian intelligence, have mostly remained the same as in previous "Geran". In particular, in the updated version a high-precision PNI5GA magnetometer from the American company PNI Sensor was found, which is used in the new navigation block.

Another change was the appearance of the autonomous optoelectronic system "Susanin". It compares the image received by the camera with reference data stored in the onboard computer's memory and is used together with satellite and inertial navigation. The HUR previously detected a similar system in the new "Geran-5" drones.

Additionally, Russian military forces began using a new cumulative-cutting warhead KRSN for the jet drones. The HUR notes that it is designed to damage metal structures, including bridges and electric power transmission line supports.

The use of such a warhead was previously reported by radio technology expert Serhiy Flesh. Now its presence in the new "Geran-4" modification has been confirmed by the HUR study.
