The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a package of decisions to reform vocational education in Ukraine. Under the new standard, at least 40% of the educational program must be devoted to practical training, and students will be able to obtain up to three professional qualifications.

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky announced this on Telegram.

According to him, the key objective of the changes is to align student training with the real needs of the labor market and the economy. Vocational colleges will gain more autonomy in designing educational programs, and training will be integrated with the European credit system.

One of the main changes will be an increase in the practical component. At least 40% of the program will be allocated to practical training. In addition, a student will be able to acquire up to three professional qualifications during their studies.

Separately, the government is changing the funding system for vocational colleges. The new formula is to come into force in 2027. Each institution will receive base funding, but part of the funds will depend on its performance.

When allocating funding, the following will be taken into account: demand for relevant professions in the region, the number of enrolled students, the employment rate of graduates, and the institution's ability to attract additional funds. Thus, colleges with better indicators will be able to receive more funding.

According to Koretsky, the introduction of the new formula is also one of the indicators of cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank.

The government is also expanding academic mobility in vocational education. Students will be able to spend part of their studies and internships directly with employers. Teachers will be allowed to teach and undertake internships at other educational institutions as well as at enterprises.

The Cabinet of Ministers expects this to strengthen cooperation between vocational colleges and employers and enable students to gain more practical experience during their studies.
