Kyiv will not tie the start of the 2026–2027 heating season to a specific date. Mass heat supply to residential buildings will begin based on actual air temperature and weather conditions.

This was announced by Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Petro Panteleev in a comment to Noviny.LIVE.

According to the official, the main complex of technical works required before the start of the heating season in the capital is already completed. However, current weather allows not launching centralized heating of the housing stock prematurely.

“Currently the weather allows saving energy resources and using this time for additional works,” — said Panteleev.

Thus, authorities intend to use the period of relatively high temperatures to continue infrastructure preparation while avoiding energy resource consumption when residential buildings do not yet need constant heating.

The exact date of mass connection of buildings is not yet announced by the Kyiv City State Administration. Panteleev noted that the city will move to a full heating season after a noticeable drop in air temperature.

At the same time, social institutions may receive heat before the housing stock. Hospitals, schools, and other educational institutions can be connected to heating based on individual requests from their heads, without waiting for the general start of the heating season in the capital.

Kyiv's preparation for winter has been ongoing for several months. As early as September 17, the Kyiv City State Administration reported that the city had completed about 80% of planned measures. The list of works includes scheduled repairs and maintenance of equipment, measures under the Kyiv Energy Resilience Plan, creation of fuel reserves and necessary equipment, and preparation for possible emergency situations under Russian attacks.

The city pays special attention to reserve energy sources and the ability to maintain the operation of critical infrastructure in case of damage to the power system. Earlier, the Kyiv City State Administration emphasized that preparation for the heating season is carried out taking into account increased risks for energy infrastructure.

For the population of Kyiv, the cost of heating in the new season is not planned to change. On October 2, city authorities confirmed that tariffs for thermal energy, heating, and hot water for household consumers in the 2026–2027 heating season will remain at the current level.

At the same time, heat supply companies must calculate economically justified tariffs based on current costs. These tariffs will apply to budgetary institutions, other consumers, and religious organizations, while current prices for the population are maintained.
