Dollar moved back below psychological level after active sales by NBU
On Wednesday, October 7, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.9453 UAH (-0.1111 UAH to the official rate on Tuesday, October 6); - Euro – 50.6394 UAH (+0.1564 UAH to the official rate on Tuesday, October 6). The rates were set at 15:30 on October 6 and reflect the following trends:
1. The dollar on the international currency market FOREX, after a sharp rise on Monday, began to correct against other major world currencies. The trend was also picked up by the Ukrainian interbank currency market, where immediately after the opening of trading at 10:00, quotes for non-cash dollar went down.
By 11:10 Kyiv time, they fell to 45.00 UAH on the bid position. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 45.0417 UAH – 1 kopeck lower than on Monday. After 13:00, the National Bank appeared on the market. Its active sales led to a drop of the dollar to 44.815 UAH on the bid position – 28 kopecks below yesterday's maximum. By the close of trading, the average transaction price decreased even more, so the NBU was forced to lower the official dollar rate by 11.1 kopecks. As a result, the official dollar rate again fell below the psychological level of 45 UAH.
2. The euro on the international FOREX market on Tuesday took advantage of the fact that the risen dollar began to be sold, and rose to 1.12768 dollars – 115.6 points higher than yesterday's low. At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.12669 dollars – 62.5 points higher than on Monday (1.12044 dollars). Therefore, despite the decrease in the official dollar rate of the NBU, the official euro rate for Wednesday was increased by 15.6 kopecks.
