On Thursday, October 8, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates:

- US dollar – 44.8639 UAH ( -0.0814 UAH to the official rate on Wednesday, October 7);

- euro – 50.1569 UAH ( -0.4825 UAH to the official rate on Wednesday, October 7).

Rates were set at 15:30 on October 7 and reflect the following trends:

The first half of Wednesday's trading session on the international currency market FOREX passed in a narrow range of 44.86-44.89 UAH on the bid side. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 44.8794 UAH – 16.2 kopecks lower than yesterday's. After 13:30, the National Bank appeared on the market. Its active sales led to a fall of the dollar to 44.76 UAH on the bid side – another 3 kopecks below yesterday's minimum.

In fact, yesterday's scenario repeated, when under pressure from NBU interventions, the non-cash dollar became even cheaper after lunch. By the close of trading, the average transaction price decreased compared to the figure at 12:00, so the NBU was forced to lower the official dollar exchange rate by another 8.1 kopecks.

The euro on the international FOREX market on Wednesday collapsed against the US dollar from 1.12631 to 1.11647 dollars – almost to the level of the 17-month minimum that was marked on Monday. At the moment of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.11798 dollars – 87.1 points lower than on Tuesday (1.12669 dollars). Therefore, in parallel with the reduction of the official dollar exchange rate, the NBU lowered the official euro exchange rate for Thursday by 48.3 kopecks.
