Spotify to launch audiobooks in Ukraine as part of the service's largest expansion
Spotify will launch audiobooks in Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of the largest expansion of this segment since it appeared on the platform. Ukraine is included in the list of countries where users will get access to books alongside music and podcasts.
Spotify announced this on October 7. The company intends to increase the number of markets with access to audiobooks from the current 22 to over 180.
After the expansion, the service will be available to more than 750 million people worldwide. For users in new markets, Spotify promises a catalog of more than 350,000 audiobooks. Books will be offered in more than 120 languages, including expanded catalogs in Polish, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
Spotify did not announce a specific launch date for audiobooks in Ukraine itself. The company says that new countries will be added gradually until the end of 2026. Access conditions and prices will also differ depending on the market.
Before this expansion, Spotify audiobooks were available in 22 countries. Over the past year, the number of monthly listeners of this format grew by almost 40%, and listening time increased by more than 30%.
The company is also developing its paid Audiobooks+ option, which allows users to get additional listening hours beyond the included limit. According to Spotify, the number of Audiobooks+ subscribers has already exceeded 1 million, and the annual recurring revenue of this segment has surpassed $100 million.
Along with Ukraine, Spotify audiobooks are expected to arrive in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Baltic states, and dozens of other countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America by the end of the year.
