Ukraine is ready for five options for a ceasefire with Russia – Foreign Ministry
Ukraine is ready to support five different ceasefire options being developed with the participation of other states. The agreement of Russia is necessary for the implementation of any of them, stated the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Heorhii Tykhyi.
He announced this on October 7 during a briefing for journalists, reports “Suspilne”.
The first option remains a complete and unconditional ceasefire. Ukraine agreed to such a format back in March 2025 during negotiations with the American side in Jeddah. Kyiv’s position has not changed since then.
Two more options concern a ceasefire in the Black Sea. Separate proposals are being developed by Turkey and Egypt in consultations with Ukraine. According to Tykhyi, Kyiv considers these initiatives realistic and mutually beneficial.
The fourth option is being worked on by India. It provides for solutions related to food security in the Black Sea, as well as the cessation of strikes on energy infrastructure.
The fifth option is an energy truce with the participation of the United States. This issue was discussed, among others, during the latest contacts between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump.
Thus, Kyiv allows both a complete cessation of hostilities and narrower agreements that could stop strikes on certain categories of objects and ensure the safety of navigation.
Tykhyi emphasized that the Ukrainian side is ready for practical solutions, but further progress of these initiatives depends on Moscow’s position.
“There are no obstacles on the Ukrainian side. We are now awaiting the Russian position”, — stated the Foreign Ministry representative.
Ukraine also maintains readiness for a trilateral meeting with the participation of representatives of Kyiv, Washington, and Moscow. The Foreign Ministry believes that the most significant results could be achieved by a meeting at the level of leaders, but Kyiv is ready to participate in negotiations at other levels as well.
The Ukrainian side would like to hold such a meeting already in October. Earlier, Zelenskyy spoke about the possibility of technical negotiations in the United Arab Emirates or another country that would be determined with US mediation. A final decision from Russia is still awaited.
