Death toll from strike on house in Pryluky rises to 18

The number of people killed as a result of a Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, on October 7 has risen to 18. Among the dead are four children.

Updated figures were reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Another 55 people were injured, including seven children.

Earlier, police in the Chernihiv region reported 16 dead. Thus, the death toll continued to rise during search and rescue operations.

A Russian missile hit a residential apartment building. The attack also damaged at least 15 apartment buildings and 16 private houses. The exact number of damaged buildings is being established.

Rescue workers and other emergency services are continuing to dismantle destroyed structures and inspect the rubble.

According to rescuers, 15 people were saved, including one child. Efforts to deal with the aftermath of the strike are ongoing.

Earlier in the day, data on the consequences of the attack were repeatedly updated as search operations continued. In the morning, four dead and 20 injured were reported; later the death toll rose to 13, then to 16 and 18 people.
