On Friday, October 9, hourly power outage schedules will be in effect in certain regions of Ukraine. The restrictions are related to damage to energy infrastructure as a result of Russian attacks.

The National Energy Company "Ukrenergo" reported this on its official Telegram channel on October 8.

The company warned that the situation in the energy system remains difficult. Energy workers continue to restore damaged equipment, but to prevent network overloads in some regions it is necessary to limit electricity consumption.

Where will power be turned off on October 9

According to preliminary information from "Ukrenergo", hourly outage schedules will not be applied nationwide, but in certain regions.

The specific time of electricity absence depends on the region, settlement, and the queue to which the consumer belongs.

You can find out whether a schedule will be in effect at a specific address on the official websites and pages of regional electricity distribution system operators — oblenergo.

During the day, the duration of outages may change depending on the state of the energy system and the results of restoration work.

Why restrictions continue

The reason for introducing schedules remains the consequences of Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy facilities.

In particular, on October 8, Russian troops attacked an important energy facility that supplies electricity to Kyiv. After the strike, power outages occurred in certain districts of the capital.

Due to a voltage drop in the high-voltage network in Kyiv and Kyiv region, emergency outages had to be applied. They are introduced without a predetermined schedule and temporarily replace the usual hourly schedules.

Power supply interruptions also affected city transport. The Kyiv metro temporarily stopped train movement on all lines, but later traffic was restored.

In addition, electricity problems led to a drop in water pressure in the water supply network of some districts of the capital.

"Ukrenergo" reported that repair crews are continuing work at damaged facilities. The restoration of stable electricity supply depends on the condition of the equipment and the absence of new damage.

Ukrainians urged to save electricity

Energy workers recommend that consumers use electricity rationally, especially during hours of increased load on the energy system.

In particular, residents are advised not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time, and to shift the use of energy-intensive equipment to daytime hours if possible.

Such measures help reduce load on power grids and decrease the risk of additional emergency restrictions.

The company also reminds that hourly schedules may be adjusted during the day. Therefore, consumers should rely on the latest messages from their oblenergo, rather than previously published schedules.
