Russians attack Kramatorsk again: death toll rises to 32

In Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, on the evening of October 8, a Russian drone attacked a civilian car. Two people died as a result of the strike. Thus, the total number of residents killed in the city by Russian attacks during the day has reached 32.

This was reported by the Kramatorsk City Council on its Telegram channel.

According to local authorities, Russian troops struck a car in the central part of Kramatorsk. Two people were in the vehicle. Both died.

The new attack occurred a few hours after a massive strike on public transport, which led to numerous casualties among the civilian population.

In the morning Russia struck two passenger buses

On the morning of October 8, at about 10:00 a.m., Russian aviation attacked Kramatorsk with a guided aerial bomb. Two regular buses, which were at a stop almost in the city center, came under attack.

According to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, Russian troops presumably used the UMPB D-30 SN aerial munition.

As a result of the morning attack, 30 people were killed. Another 20 were wounded, according to updated data from the Donetsk region police.

The head of the Kramatorsk City Military Administration, Oleksandr Honcharenko, said that the buses were carrying out regular passenger transportation. At the moment of the strike, city residents were on board.

After the attack, rescuers, police and medical services worked at the scene. Law enforcement officers documented the aftermath of the shelling and established the identities of the victims.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that some of the dead still could not be identified due to the severity of their injuries.

Public transport halted in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk

After the morning strike on the buses, the authorities decided to suspend public transport in Kramatorsk.

Similar restrictions were introduced in neighboring Sloviansk. The decision is due to the ongoing threat of new Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure and passenger transportation.

The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, emphasized the need for additional security measures for residents of frontline cities.

A day of mourning for those killed in the Russian strike has been declared in the Kramatorsk community for October 9.

35 people killed in Kramatorsk community in one day

In addition to the 32 killed in Kramatorsk itself, Russian shelling on October 8 claimed the lives of three more people in the village of Bilenke, which is part of the Kramatorsk city community.

Thus, in one day within the community, 35 people died from Russian attacks: 30 as a result of the morning strike on buses, two after the evening drone attack on a car in Kramatorsk, and three more in Bilenke.

Kramatorsk remains one of the largest cities in Donetsk region under Ukrainian control. Russian troops continue to strike the city and surrounding settlements, creating a constant threat to the civilian population.
