Passenger train and electric locomotive collide in Lviv: there are casualties

A suburban diesel train traveling from Lviv to Sokal collided with an electric locomotive at the Pidzamche railway station in Lviv. Five people were injured as a result of the incident, including the train driver and four passengers.

According to preliminary data, the collision occurred on October 8 on the territory of Pidzamche station, located in the northern part of Lviv.

The accident involved a passenger diesel train traveling on the Lviv–Sokal route and a separate electric locomotive.

As a result of the collision, the driver and four passengers were injured. Information about the severity of the injuries and the need for hospitalization of the victims is being clarified.

Causes of the collision are being established

The circumstances of the railway accident have not yet been finally established.

In particular, it remains to be determined under what conditions the passenger train and the electric locomotive ended up on the same section of track and what factors led to the collision.

There is currently no information about possible technical malfunctions, traffic rule violations, or personnel errors.

The extent of damage to the rolling stock and railway infrastructure has also not been reported yet.
