The Donald Trump administration offered Russia several economic incentives if it agrees to a ceasefire with Ukraine in the energy sector or at sea, according to Eurointegration.

This was reported by The New York Times, writes "European Pravda".

According to officials familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Americans proposed three lucrative economic incentives to incline Moscow toward a limited ceasefire – either regarding energy infrastructure or at sea.

One of the proposals concerned unfreezing billions of Russian sovereign assets frozen in the West. These funds, according to officials, were viewed as a preliminary incentive for a partial truce, not as a reward for concluding it. This revived last year's proposal to unfreeze funds for Russia. At that time, it involved unfreezing up to $100 billion.

In their proposals to Moscow, the Americans also returned to a plan to sell part of the shares of the Russian oil giant "Lukoil" in a multibillion-dollar deal. According to the plan, it was to involve a group of investors from the Middle East, including those with business ties to American negotiators.

In addition, US President's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner renewed the US proposal that would allow Belarus – an ally and neighbor of the Kremlin – to export potash, according to officials familiar with the talks.

According to sources, Kyiv refrained from categorically rejecting any proposal but demanded guarantees. For example, it proposed mirror payments in dollars from frozen assets in favor of Ukraine or guarantees of additional military aid in case of any breach of the truce.
