On the evening of October 11, shortly after US President Donald Trump's statement claiming an "energy truce" between Russia and Ukraine had entered into force, Russian troops launched a missile attack on a suburb of Kharkiv.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov confirmed the attack itself: around 18:16, an explosion was heard in Kharkiv, and preliminary reports indicated that a Russian missile struck a suburb of the city. No casualties had been reported at that time.

Local monitoring channels report that the strike hit the Kharkiv TPP-5 area and a fire broke out at the facility. At the time of publication, there was no official confirmation of a direct hit on the TPP-5 itself.

Strike occurred shortly after Trump's statement

Shortly before, Trump wrote on Truth Social that an energy truce had allegedly begun between Russia and Ukraine.

"From this moment on, the energy truce in the war between Russia and Ukraine enters into force. Both sides agreed. Do not violate it!" — the US president stated.

However, at the time of the statement, neither Kyiv nor Moscow confirmed that such a bilateral agreement had already been concluded.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later said Trump's post was the first source of information for him about an allegedly reached agreement.

The Ukrainian side, meanwhile, states its readiness to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries if Russia halts attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Moscow had not publicly confirmed the energy truce

There was also no separate statement from the Kremlin on the entry into force of such a regime.

Thus, at the time of the evening strike on Kharkiv region, there was Trump's statement of an immediate energy truce, but no public confirmation of its terms by Russia and Ukraine.

Kurs earlier wrote that Kyiv and Moscow did not confirm the agreement announced by the US president.

What is known about the strike near Kharkiv

According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, on the evening of October 11, Russia preliminary launched a missile attack on the suburb of the regional center.

The explosion was heard around 18:16. Regional media, citing monitoring channels, reported the movement of a small-sized missile in the direction of Kharkiv and a strike in the Pisochyn area.

Kharkiv TPP-5 is located in the village of Podvirky, Kharkiv district, near Pisochyn. The plant produces electric and thermal energy and is part of the region's energy infrastructure.

At the time of publication, official services continued to clarify the consequences of the evening attack.

This is not the first strike on the region's energy infrastructure in recent days

Kharkiv and the region have been repeatedly attacked by Russia in recent days, including strikes on energy infrastructure.

Due to damage to the power system, on October 11, hourly power outage schedules were in effect in the region, and capacity restrictions were introduced for industry and business.

Therefore, the new strike is especially important against the backdrop of Trump's statement: if the hit on TPP-5 is officially confirmed, this will be the first recorded strike on a major energy facility after his announcement of an allegedly already functioning truce.

For now, it is more correct to speak of a confirmed Russian missile strike on a suburb of Kharkiv and preliminary reports of a hit in the TPP-5 area. Data on the condition of the station itself and the scale of possible damage are being clarified.
