180 combat clashes on the front in one day: General Staff names the most active directions
Since the beginning of the day on October 12, 180 combat clashes have been recorded on the front line. Russian troops continued offensive actions in several directions, attacking Ukrainian defenders' positions most actively on the Pokrovske, South Slobozhanske and Kostiantynivka sectors of the front.
This is stated in the operational summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 22:00 on Monday, October 12.
According to Ukrainian command, during the day the Russian army carried out 67 airstrikes, using 226 guided aerial bombs.
In addition, Russian troops used 5,650 kamikaze drones and carried out 1,373 shellings of Ukrainian settlements and positions of the Defense Forces.
Pokrovske direction
On the Pokrovske direction, Russian troops launched 23 attacks. The enemy tried to advance towards the settlements of Hruzke, Toretske and Vilne.
According to preliminary estimates of the General Staff, Ukrainian defenders on this sector of the front eliminated 23 Russian servicemen, and eight more were wounded.
Also during the day, Ukrainian units destroyed:
- nine units of automotive equipment;
- one artillery system;
- one special vehicle;
- three shelters of enemy personnel.
In addition, three vehicles and 29 shelters of Russian servicemen were damaged.
On the Pokrovske direction, 172 Russian drones of various types were also destroyed or suppressed.
South Slobozhanske and Kupiansk directions
On the South Slobozhanske direction, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions near Starytsia, Izbytske, Vovchanski Khutory, Zybyno, as well as in the direction of Varvarivka, Radkivka and Doroshivka 15 times.
As of 22:00, one combat clash was ongoing.
On the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army did not conduct offensive actions during the day.
On the North Slobozhanske and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out 37 shellings of positions of Ukrainian units and settlements.
Lyman, Kostiantynivka and other directions of Donbas
On the Lyman direction, Ukrainian servicemen repelled six attempts by Russian units to advance in the areas of Kolodiazi and Lyman.
At the time of publication of the evening summary, two combat clashes were still ongoing.
On the Kostiantynivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 14 Russian assaults in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Sofiivka and Dovha Balka.
On the Sloviansk and Kramatorsk directions, Russian troops did not carry out assault actions during the day.
Situation on the Zaporizhzhia direction
On the Huliaipole direction, the Russian army launched eight attacks. Ukrainian defenders repelled offensive actions in the areas of Rozhdestvenka, Ternove, as well as in the direction of Nove Zaporizhzhia, Kosivtseve and Horke.
On the Orikhiv direction, according to the General Staff, Russian units did not conduct assault actions.
On the Oleksandrivka direction, one Russian attack was recorded towards Ternove.
On the Prydniprovske direction, offensive actions of the enemy were also not noted.
The General Staff added that on other directions, no significant changes in the operational situation occurred.
