The Cabinet of Ministers allocated an additional UAH 60 billion for defense: where the money will go
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on October 13 decided to allocate an additional UAH 60 billion for the needs of the Defense Forces. Most of the funds are intended for payments to military personnel and support for their families.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretskyi, reported by the government's press service.
Of the allocated amount, UAH 43.5 billion will be directed to the monetary support of military personnel and support for their families. Another UAH 16.6 billion is provided for the purchase of weapons and provision for military units.
In particular, the funds will go to the purchase of ammunition, drones, electronic warfare and communication equipment. Part of the funding will also be directed to the repair and modernization of military equipment.
«Ensuring timely payments and stable funding for units performing combat tasks», — the Prime Minister emphasized.
Note that on October 2, the government also decided to redistribute UAH 50.1 billion from the reserve of funds for the security and defense sector. These funds were intended for priority payments to servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their families in October. At that time, the Ministry of Finance clarified that this is about the redistribution of funds already provided for in the budget, which does not require additional expenditures.
According to previously approved amendments to the state budget for 2026, Ukraine's total expenditures on security and defense should amount to UAH 4.4 trillion. Of these, UAH 2.3 trillion is provided for the purchase of weapons and military equipment, and more than UAH 1.45 trillion — for the monetary support of military personnel.
