On the night of October 14 and in the morning, Russian troops launched massive ballistic missile strikes on the energy infrastructure of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. All three city heat and power plants came under attack, as well as critically important energy facilities in Kyiv Oblast. Due to the shelling, power supply disruptions occurred in the capital, and emergency power outages were implemented in several districts.

The scale of the attack was reported by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretskyi. According to him, Russian troops deliberately targeted energy system facilities, and energy workers and rescuers have been working to eliminate the consequences since early morning.

Koretskyi confirmed that Russian troops attacked all three city CHP plants in Kyiv. In addition, critically important facilities in Kyiv Oblast that ensure electricity supply to the capital and central regions of Ukraine came under fire. Initial restoration work has already begun at the damaged energy facilities.

Earlier, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported strikes on the capital's energy infrastructure. According to him, Russian missiles attacked several energy facilities, and on the morning of October 14 the city came under a new wave of ballistic strikes.

According to DTEK, emergency power outages were implemented in Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi, Solomianskyi, and parts of Holosiivskyi districts.

In these districts, stabilization outage schedules are temporarily not in effect. Energy workers are working to restore power supply, but the company has not yet announced timelines for full power restoration.

The attack also caused disruptions in public transport. Due to the air threat, Kyiv City Express trains were temporarily halted in both directions. After the all-clear, the circular train resumed operations, but the first trips departed with significant delays.

In addition, in Darnytskyi and Pecherskyi districts, electric transport was suspended, and on several routes, traffic patterns were changed and replacement buses were deployed. Later, tram lines No. 1, 3, 15, 18 and trolleybus lines No. 4, 5, 7, 8, 17 resumed service in the capital. However, transport continued to operate with deviations from schedules, and on some routes restrictions remained in place.

According to updated information from the Prime Minister, three people were killed as a result of the evening and morning strikes on Kyiv. After the evening attack, 25 wounded were reported, and one more person was injured in the morning shelling.

Rescuers continue to deal with the aftermath of the Russian attack. In Desnianskyi district, a multi-storey residential building was damaged, and fires and damage to non-residential buildings were also recorded in other parts of the capital.

Russian Defense Ministry announced strikes on energy infrastructure

The Russian agency claims that as a result of the attack, several heat and power plants, thermal power plants, an electrical substation, and a data processing center were hit. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that these facilities were allegedly used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defense industry enterprises.
