Part of Kyiv and region left without power after another Russian attack
On the evening of October 15, Russian troops again attacked critical energy infrastructure in Kyiv region. As a result of the strike, part of consumers in Kyiv and the region were left without electricity. Problems with water supply also arose in the capital.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about the air threat.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the Russian attack affected a critical energy infrastructure facility, after which power supply interruptions began in certain districts of the capital and settlements of Kyiv region.
The consequences of the strike also affected the operation of Kyiv's water supply system. The capital's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported a decrease in water pressure in the right-bank part of the city.
In particular, water supply problems were recorded in four districts:
- Holosiivskyi;
- Sviatoshynskyi;
- Solomianskyi;
- Shevchenkivskyi.
According to Klitschko, the pressure drop is associated with damage to energy facilities in Kyiv region. Specialists are carrying out the necessary switching of power supply to restore normal operation of the water supply system.
The exact number of consumers left without electricity is not yet specified. The timeline for full restoration of power supply in the affected areas has not been announced.
The new attack occurred amid the ongoing restoration of Ukraine's energy system after previous Russian shelling.
On the morning of October 15, energy company DTEK reported that the power supply situation in Kyiv had been stabilized after the massive attack on October 14. At that time, the capital returned from emergency restrictions to planned schedules of power outages.
However, the evening strike again complicated the situation with power supply to the city and the region.
For Friday, October 16, Ukrenergo had previously planned hourly power outages in some regions of Ukraine from 06:00 to 23:59. The planned scope of restrictions is from 0.5 to 2 queens. Due to new damage, actual schedules may be adjusted.
Residents of Kyiv and the region are advised to check current information about outages on official resources of DTEK and local grid operators.
