GUR reported on the results of the seven-week operation in Sumy region
Ukrainian military intelligence officers completed a seven-week special operation in Sumy region, during which they thwarted the offensive plans of Russian troops and prevented the enemy from cutting the logistics routes of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
This was reported on October 20 by the Active Measures Department of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine ..
The operation was carried out by fighters of the special unit GROUP 10. According to the GUR, over seven weeks they cleared more than 600 hectares of forest from Russian military personnel. After the operation was completed, the liberated positions were transferred to other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Ukrainian intelligence stated that during the operation 108 Russian servicemen were eliminated and another 157 were wounded. In addition, 29 Russian servicemen were taken prisoner.
In total, the special forces struck more than 1,100 enemy targets. Among them are UAV control and launch points, artillery systems, vehicles, and engineering and fortification structures.
According to hromadske, citing the GUR, the operation consisted of two stages, and 40 Ukrainian special forces soldiers took direct part in the combat.
The main task of the intelligence officers was to prevent the advance of Russian units towards Ukrainian logistics routes. According to the GUR's assessment, the goal was achieved: the enemy's offensive plans were thwarted, and control over the cleared territory was transferred to the Defense Forces.
