In September 2026, producer prices of industrial products in Ukraine decreased by 2.8% compared to August. However, on an annual basis, they remained 38.4% higher than in September last year. Moreover, the annual growth even accelerated: in August it was 37.3%.
This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, published on October 22.
The September decrease occurred after two months of growth: in July industrial prices rose by 3%, and in August - by 0.9%.
The main reason for the September fall was a decrease in prices in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning by 6.8%. However, compared to September 2025, products of this sector remained more expensive by 73.3%.
The price dynamics in different industries were uneven.
| Sector | In September | Annual |
|---|---|---|
| Industry overall | -2.8% | +38.4% |
| Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply | -6.8% | +73.3% |
| Manufacturing | 0.0% | +13.3% |
| Food products, beverages and tobacco products | -0.8% | +11.5% |
| Mining and quarrying | -0.7% | +3.4% |
Separately, statistics demonstrate a significant difference between price dynamics on domestic and foreign markets.
Prices of industrial products sold within Ukraine rose by 41.5% over the year, while products sold abroad rose by 13.3%. In September, prices on the domestic market decreased by 3.1%, and on the foreign market - only by 0.1%.
In the manufacturing industry, the overall price level did not change during September. Meanwhile, producers of food products, beverages and tobacco products reduced prices by 0.8% in a month, although compared to September last year their products became more expensive by 11.5%.
The producer price index reflects changes in prices at which enterprises sell industrial products. It differs from the consumer price index, which characterizes the rise in the cost of goods and services for the population. Therefore, the annual increase in industrial prices of 38.4% does not mean an analogous increase in retail prices.
