Тhe cash dollar rose sharply in price, reacting to yesterday's growth on the interbank currency market. In Kyiv, on the morning of Tuesday, wholesale exchange points sold the cash dollar at 46.00 hryvnia, but by now they have slightly lowered price tags to 45.90-45.95 hryvnia for the ordinary (i.e., "white") dollar, which is 35 kopecks more expensive than a day ago. Dollars of a new type (the so-called "blue dollar") are at least 10-15 kopecks more expensive.
Substantially, price tags have also grown in other large cities. In Poltava on Tuesday morning, the dollar was sold at exactly 46 hryvnia, in Dnipro - at 46.05-46.10 hryvnia, in Kharkiv - at 46.15 hryvnia, in Khmelnytskyi - at 46.25 hryvnia, and in Vinnytsia - at 46.30 hryvnia.
By 12:30 Ukrainian banks sold the dollar at prices from 45.75 hryvnia in the Kyiv branch of Sky Bank to 46.26 hryvnia in the Zaporizhzhia Metbank. As for the euro, at the same time it could be purchased cheapest at 51.20 hryvnia also at the Kyiv branch of Sky Bank. It should be noted that at 10:00 price tags in banks were even higher, but slightly declined by lunchtime, reacting to the stop of growth on the interbank.
In two days, on Thursday, October 29, there will take place a regular, already the seventh this year, meeting of the NBU Board on monetary policy issues, during which the fate of the key policy rate will be decided. According to analysts, by Thursday the National Bank will try either to play for lowering the dollar from current levels, or at least to slow down its growth. Otherwise, "uncomfortable" questions from journalists cannot be avoided.
