The NOVA group of companies, which includes "Nova Poshta", has implemented its own air defense project and already has results in shooting down Russian Shahed-type attack drones. The company has become one of the few in Ukraine to introduce private air defense.
This was stated by NOVA group co-owner Vyacheslav Klymov during a discussion at the Kyiv International Economic Forum. The corresponding segment of the broadcast begins at the 8:39:40 mark.
According to the entrepreneur, Ukrainian business needs to participate more actively in protecting its own infrastructure from Russian attacks. He noted that "Nova Poshta" has already implemented the relevant project and has company-confirmed results of its operation.
"We are one of the few companies that has implemented this project. I do not want to disclose the numbers to you, but we have shot down Shaheds", - Klymov reported.
The co-owner of "Nova Poshta" emphasized that these are precisely the results of the work of a private company, not just state air defense units.
"Show me how many companies in Ukraine have shot down at least one Shahed. So, we have shot down", - he stated.
At the same time, Klymov did not specify the number of destroyed drones, the types of air defense means used, and the details of organizing their work.
Business takes on the protection of its own infrastructure
During his speech, Klymov also raised the issue of creating private fire departments at large enterprises.
According to him, employees of "Nova Poshta" often extinguish fires after Russian attacks on their own, without waiting for the arrival of State Emergency Service rescuers.
The entrepreneur believes that large and medium-sized businesses should be able to create their own fire safety services for prompt response to emergencies.
He also said that Ukrainian companies are already looking for fire trucks in Europe to form such units.
In Klymov's opinion, the development of private air defense should become a continuation of this approach - when enterprises independently invest in the protection of their facilities and employees.
The entrepreneur is convinced that the private sector can work effectively in certain areas that before the full-scale war were traditionally considered the responsibility of the state.
At the same time, the co-owner of the company did not disclose specific details of financing "Nova Poshta's" own air defense, the cost of its creation, or the possible expansion of the project.
