In Kherson and on the part of Kherson Oblast controlled by Ukraine, the past day passed without recorded Russian shelling and strikes on civilian infrastructure. At the same time, the ceasefire regime in the area of temporarily occupied Oleshky has been lasting for more than 30 hours without violations.
This was reported on October 28 by the head of the Kherson Oblast Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, and the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.
According to Prokudin, from 06:00 on October 27 to 06:00 on October 28, no Russian shelling or hits on civilian and critical infrastructure facilities were recorded on the right bank of the Oblast. The head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanko, also confirmed that during that day there were no shelling or drone attacks on the territory of the community.
However, four residents sought medical assistance due to injuries received during Russian attacks in previous days. Another five people were evacuated from de-occupied communities of the Oblast to safer areas.
The absence of shelling was recorded against the background of a humanitarian ceasefire that began at 03:00 Kyiv time on October 27 in the Oleshky area on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, during the first 30 hours of the silence regime, the parties did not permit a single incident. He noted that constant communication between the Ukrainian and Russian negotiation groups contributed to this.
Lubinets said that he maintains direct communication with the Russian Ombudswoman, Yana Lantratova, to coordinate the implementation of the agreements.
The Ombudsman also noted the participation of US First Lady Melania Trump, who acted as a mediator during the preparation of the humanitarian operation and continues to coordinate the efforts of the parties.
Compliance with the ceasefire regime as of 08:00 on October 28 was also confirmed by the spokesman of the 30th Marine Corps of the Ukrainian Navy, Pavlo Drogal.
Earlier, Melania Trump said that the ceasefire area was expanded beyond Oleshky to ensure the safe passage of humanitarian convoys. However, the exact geographical boundaries of the agreements were not publicly detailed.
Thus, the absence of Russian attacks on Kherson and the right-bank part of the Oblast coincided in time with the start of the local ceasefire. However, there is currently no official confirmation of a direct link between these events.
The humanitarian operation involves delivering food, medicine, and other assistance to residents of occupied Oleshky, as well as creating conditions for the voluntary departure of the civilian population.
According to the agreements reached, the ceasefire regime should last until 22:59 on November 1. Further actions of the parties depend on compliance with the agreed humanitarian conditions.
