In Warsaw, Polish law enforcement officers detained a citizen of Ukraine suspected of participating in a sabotage group that acted on instructions from Russian handlers. The Romanian authorities were looking for him in connection with the arson of an industrial facility near the Carfil defense enterprise in the city of Brașov.

This was reported on October 28 by the Polish radio RMF FM, citing its own sources in law enforcement agencies.

The detained is a 25-year-old Ukrainian citizen, Artem S. The operation was carried out by officers of the Central Investigative Bureau of the Police of Poland (CBŚP) with the participation of a counter-terrorism unit.

Law enforcement officers detained the man in an apartment in the Warsaw district of Ursus. According to journalists, the suspect did not resist during the arrest.

According to RMF FM, the Ukrainian was assigned the role of a scout in the sabotage group. The investigation assumes that he was to identify a target for arson, gather the necessary information, and ensure funding for the operation.

The man is now planned to be handed over to the Romanian authorities on the basis of a European arrest warrant. After extradition, he is to be interrogated by investigators of the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT).

Earlier, Romanian law enforcement identified two more probable participants in the network - citizens of Belarus. They were detained in Germany, where, according to the investigation, they were preparing similar acts of sabotage.

As previously reported by "Kurs Ukrainy", on October 26 the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) announced the exposure of a network whose activities were coordinated from Russia.

The investigation is connected with the fire on September 14 at an industrial site in Brașov. The fire damaged premises of several commercial enterprises near the CARFIL SA arms factory, which is part of the state defense concern ROMARM. The Romanian authorities did not report damage to the production facilities of the factory itself.

According to SRI, potential targets of the saboteurs also included other defense industry enterprises and military facilities in EU countries, in particular training sites for Ukrainian military personnel.

The investigation is ongoing. The involvement of the detained in the alleged actions is to be established by the court.
