One of Russia's largest online retailers, Ozon, estimated the damage from drone attacks on its logistics infrastructure at 30.1 billion rubles, or about 373 million dollars. Since August 2026, strikes caused fires at eleven company facilities in different regions of Russia.
This is stated in Ozon's official financial statements for the third quarter of 2026, published on October 28.
The company confirmed damage to eleven logistics facilities as a result of drone hits. Fires of varying scale broke out at the affected sites, leading to loss of goods, equipment damage and additional expenses.
Ozon's statements indicate that the total amount of reserves formed for the estimated damage is 30.1 billion rubles.
This amount includes losses of goods intended for sale, write-off and depreciation of fixed assets, as well as other expenses related to damage to logistics infrastructure.
The company expects to cover part of the damage through insurance. According to Ozon, some goods and other assets at the affected sites were insured.
The marketplace is currently negotiating with insurance companies for compensation. At the same time, Ozon warned in its financial statements that possible insurance payments could be significantly less than the actual losses incurred.
Thus, the final financial effect of the attacks will depend, in particular, on the amount of compensation that can be obtained.
Attacks create additional risks for the marketplace's operations
In its quarterly report, Ozon separately highlighted infrastructure damage due to external impacts among significant operational risks.
The company notes that such incidents can cause local logistics disruptions, additional recovery costs, loss of goods and asset depreciation.
This creates risks not only for the marketplace's own infrastructure, but also for sellers who use its warehouses to store goods and fulfill orders.
As Kurs.com.ua previously reported, on August 27 drones attacked Ozon logistics complexes in Ufa and Orenburg Oblast.
After these attacks, the company temporarily suspended receiving shipments at some warehouses and redirected some cargo to other logistics centers.
In October, during a massive drone attack on St. Petersburg, a fire was also reported at one of Ozon's warehouses. The company stated then that personnel were evacuated.
Ozon's financial performance remained positive
Despite significant losses of logistics infrastructure, Ozon ended the third quarter with a net profit of 3.7 billion rubles. However, compared to the second quarter, when the company earned 10.1 billion rubles, this figure declined.
The group's revenue for July-September increased by 63% year-on-year, reaching 421.2 billion rubles.
The marketplace's gross merchandise value including services grew by 42% to 1.6 trillion rubles, and the number of orders — by 76% to 1.2 billion.
Adjusted EBITDA stood at 93 billion rubles. As noted by The Moscow Times, its calculation did not include the estimated damage from the drone attacks.
Thus, the series of strikes inflicted significant losses on Ozon, although the company continued to grow sales and remained profitable. At the same time, further damage to warehouse infrastructure could lead to new expenses and complicate logistics operations.
