Poland plans to transfer two more MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in the near future. The decision to provide the aircraft has already been made, but a specific delivery date has not been announced yet.

This was reported on October 29 by the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, citing the director of the Department of Strategy and Defense Planning of the Polish Ministry of National Defense, retired General Dariusz Łukowski. The information was also published by RMF24.

According to Łukowski, the transfer of the two aircraft should take place in the near future. Journalists found out that one of the fighters has already exhausted its operational resource, while the other remains airworthy.

The MiG-29s are to be part of a new package of Polish military aid to Ukraine. In September, representatives of the Ukrainian defense ministry said its estimated value would be around 50 million euros. The package was also expected to include air defense assets.

According to Rzeczpospolita, the aid may include 155 mm and 152 mm artillery ammunition, as well as 20 mm ammunition for the aircraft cannons of F-16 fighters. However, the Polish Ministry of National Defense has not officially disclosed the full list of weapons.

The ministry confirmed that it is preparing another package of support for Kyiv. It mainly involves military equipment that the Polish armed forces are withdrawing from service or no longer plan to use. The final scope of assistance is determined taking into account the needs and security of Poland itself.

The transfer of additional MiG-29s has long been the subject of negotiations between Kyiv and Warsaw. The Polish side linked the supply of fighters to the possibility of obtaining Ukrainian technologies for the production of drones and missiles. Earlier, the parties could not finally agree on relevant arrangements, as well as the issue of modernizing the aircraft.

Poland had already transferred fighters of this type to Ukraine after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. According to Polish media, a total of 14 MiG-29s in various technical conditions were previously handed over to the Ukrainian military.

Current confirmation relates to the preparation of a new transfer, not the actual arrival of the aircraft in Ukraine. The Polish side has not yet provided exact delivery dates or details on the technical condition of the planes after possible repairs.
