In Lviv, starting Friday, October 30, the heating season begins for residential buildings. Connection to centralized heat supply will occur gradually, so residents will receive heat within a few days.

Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi announced this on October 29. He noted that he had already signed the relevant order.

According to the mayor, the main task of utility services is to provide heat to residential buildings already on the upcoming weekend, October 31 - November 1. At the same time, the launch of the entire system may take several days, so there will be no simultaneous connection of all consumers.

The decision to start the heating season was made amid the city's preparation for the winter period. Heat supply enterprises are instructed to begin supplying heat to consumers in accordance with current contracts.

Some social institutions in Lviv began receiving heating earlier. As the city council reported on October 19, heat had already been supplied to 11 communal institutions that submitted relevant applications. Among them are eight medical facilities, two kindergartens, and a lyceum.

In parallel, Lviv is preparing reserve sources of energy and heat in case of accidents or Russian strikes on critical infrastructure. The city is checking alternative heating systems in educational and healthcare institutions, and also preparing heat networks.

Earlier, on October 16, the head of Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi signed an order to begin the heating season 2026-2027 in the region. The document provides that each community independently determines the date of launching heating taking into account weather conditions. The guideline is an average daily air temperature not exceeding +8C for three consecutive days.

Thus, from October 30, mass connection of residential housing will begin in Lviv, while individual hospitals and educational institutions already receive heat based on previously submitted applications.
