The Ukrainian Navy reported the destruction of two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers as a result of a missile strike on the Marinovka military airfield in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation.

On October 29, the press service of the Ukrainian Navy reported this. According to the military, the Ukrainian coastal missile system 'Neptune' was used to destroy enemy aircraft.

The strike destroyed two Su-34 frontline bombers belonging to the 11th Mixed Aviation Regiment of the Russian army. The unit is part of the 4th Mixed Aviation Division of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army of Russia.

The Navy specified that the strike was carried out on the location of Russian military aviation. Independent confirmation of the destruction of both aircraft is not yet available.

The Su-34 is one of the main types of Russian frontline bombers used to strike Ukrainian cities, front-line settlements, and positions of the Defense Forces with guided aerial bombs. The aircraft can also use various types of air-launched missiles.

According to the Ukrainian military's assessment, the destruction of such aircraft reduces the Russian tactical aviation's ability to carry out strikes on the territory of Ukraine.

The Marinovka airfield has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian attacks. In particular, on June 27, 2025, the SBU reported about a joint operation with the Special Operations Forces, as a result of which two Su-34s were destroyed at this airbase and two more were damaged. Long-range drones were used for the attack.

In addition, on October 15, 2026, the Navy reported a strike with the 'Neptune' system on the Borisoglebsk airfield in the Voronezh region of Russia. As a result of that operation, according to updated Ukrainian data, four Su-34 bombers were destroyed and two more were damaged.
