In Kyiv, starting from October 30, they are gradually restoring vehicular traffic on the Southern Bridge, which was damaged as a result of a Russian missile strike on October 27. At the first stage, passage will be opened only in one direction - from the left to the right bank of the Dnipro.

This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.

Initially, traffic will be allowed only in one lane for vehicles weighing up to 10 tons, in particular passenger cars.

The decision to partially open the crossing was made based on the results of a technical inspection of the bridge and examination by the National Institute of Infrastructure Development.

At the same time, traffic in the opposite direction - from the right to the left bank - remains completely closed for now. Technical works are ongoing on this section. The city authorities do not currently name specific deadlines for restoring passage.

In parallel, communal enterprises together with scientists are developing technical solutions for repairing the damaged structures of the Southern Bridge. This concerns, in particular, elements of the structure that ensure the operation of the metro.

Recall that on the night of October 27, Russian troops delivered another strike on the Southern Bridge. Due to the damage to the crossing, vehicular traffic was blocked, and the operation of the Syretsko-Pecherska metro line was limited.

During further inspection, specialists discovered damage to reinforced concrete structures, vehicular roadways, engineering communications and metro infrastructure. Some defects require additional checks.

The Kyiv City State Administration urges drivers to take into account temporary restrictions when planning routes. Further restoration of traffic on the Southern Bridge will be announced separately.
