On Friday, October 30, the interbank currency market saw the familiar narrow-range trading of 45.35-45.365 UAH. There are slightly more buyers than on Thursday, but the combined efforts of the National Bank and exporting companies are enough to keep the exchange rate at the same level. Today is the last working day of the month, and the end-of-month factor puts pressure on the interbank market: importers do not have much free hryvnia left to convert into non-cash dollars or euros.
At 11:22, trading volume in the Bloomberg system was $108 million – about 1.4 times more than yesterday at the same time.
The euro on Ukraine's interbank currency market on Friday also trades in a narrow range of 50.74-50.78 UAH – at the same level as yesterday. The euro on FOREX rises for the second day in a row after the US Federal Reserve kept its discount rate unchanged on Wednesday and this morning rose to $1.12148. The euro's strengthening against the dollar is a positive factor for the interbank market: when the dollar becomes cheaper globally, it often becomes cheaper in Ukraine as well.
