In Kyiv, on October 30, restoration of vehicular traffic on the Pivdennyi Bridge, damaged by a Russian missile strike, continues. Since morning, crossing has been allowed from the left to the right bank of the Dnipro, and starting from 17:00, traffic in the opposite direction is planned to be opened.
This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Currently, cars can move from the left to the right bank in one lane. Passage is allowed for vehicles weighing up to 10 tons, including passenger cars.
One lane is also planned to be opened in the direction from the right to the left bank. According to the mayor, traffic will be launched today at 17:00.
The decision to partially restore passage was made after a technical inspection of the structure and receiving expert conclusions from the National Institute for Infrastructure Development.
At the same time, opening vehicular traffic does not mean completion of repairs on the Pivdennyi Bridge. Specialists from municipal enterprises, together with scientists, continue to develop technical solutions for restoring damaged structures, particularly those ensuring metro operation.
In parallel, the city authorities have changed the organization of public transport to compensate for metro restrictions.
According to Klitschko, the Department of Transport Infrastructure has increased the number of buses on duplicate routes. Bus route No. 1M was reorganized into three routes, and the total number of buses was increased to 17.
Additionally, two new routes were introduced in the capital:
- bus No. 3M - between metro stations "Osokorky" and "Vydubychi";
- trolleybus No. 48 - between metro station "Lisova" and railway station "Kurenivka".
Also, the operation of bus routes No. 22 and No. 91 was optimized to improve transport connections along the Syretsko-Pecherska metro line.
We remind you that the Pivdennyi Bridge was damaged during a Russian missile attack on October 27. The strike affected vehicular passageways, reinforced concrete structures, engineering utilities, and metro infrastructure. Traffic on the crossing was temporarily suspended.
Earlier, Kurs Ukrainy reported that on the morning of October 30, the city authorities allowed passage only from the left to the right bank. At that time, specific deadlines for opening the opposite direction had not yet been announced.
Despite the gradual restoration of traffic, drivers should take into account restrictions on the number of available lanes and the permitted vehicle weight when planning trips.
