In Kyiv, from Monday, November 2, the connection of residential buildings to centralized heating will begin. Heat supply will be carried out gradually, since full launch of the capital's heating system takes up to seven days.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported this on October 30.
According to him, the decision to start the heating season for residential buildings was made a few days before the predicted sharp drop in air temperature. This will allow the system to be launched in advance and gradually provide houses with heat.
The mayor emphasized that not all residential buildings will be connected at the same time. The centralized heat supply system of Kyiv is one of the largest in Europe. The total length of the capital's heating networks is about 3,000 kilometers.
Due to the scale of the infrastructure, its launch requires up to a week. Thus, November 2 will be the date of the beginning of connection of the residential sector, and not a guaranteed date for heating to appear in every apartment.
Recall, the heating season in Kyiv began on October 16. At the first stage, heat was supplied to social institutions - hospitals, kindergartens, schools and other facilities. They are connected upon individual requests of their heads.
According to Klitschko, as of October 30, heating is already being received by almost 50% of the capital's social institutions. In particular, connected to heat supply are:
- 157 medical institutions;
- 402 kindergartens;
- 85 schools.
Thus, from the beginning of November, the capital moves to the next stage of the heating season - connection of residential buildings. According to the mayor, the corresponding decision was made taking into account the time required to launch heating networks and the expected cold snap.
