In Dnipro and parts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, emergency power outages were introduced on October 30 due to severe damage to energy infrastructure as a result of Russian attacks. While restrictions are in effect, the usual outage schedules are not applied.
This was reported by DTEK company. The decision on emergency restrictions was made by order of Ukrenergo.
The emergency outages affected Dnipro, districts adjacent to the regional center, and part of Pavlohrad district. Electricity supply may be cut off outside the set schedules because energy workers need to quickly balance the damaged power system.
DTEK specified that over the previous day, Russian forces repeatedly attacked energy facilities in the region. Equipment damage led to large-scale disruptions in power supply to Dnipro and neighboring settlements.
According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hansha, after Russian strikes on the evening of October 29, more than 350,000 consumers were left without electricity.
Energy workers worked on repairing the damage all night. By the morning of October 30, electricity supply was restored to some consumers, but the damaged power system could not withstand the load, causing repeated outages.
As of 09:37 on Friday, according to updated data from the regional administration, energy workers restored power to most consumers in the region affected by the attacks. However, more than 200,000 consumers remained without electricity. Restoration work continued.
The priority task for energy workers is to restore power to critical infrastructure, in particular water supply systems. After that, specialists continue restoring electricity to residential buildings.
Due to power supply problems on the morning of October 30, there were also serious disruptions in public transport operation in Dnipro. Mayor Borys Filatov reported the stoppage of electric transport and called on residents to limit movement around the city if possible.
DTEK reminds that emergency outages differ from stabilization outages: they are introduced without a predetermined schedule to prevent further disturbances in the energy system. Therefore, it is currently impossible to rely on the usual times for outages and restoration of electricity.
Exact terms for full restoration of electricity supply have not been announced yet. Current information on restrictions can be obtained on the official website of DTEK Dniprovski elektromerezhi and through the company's channels.
