Ukraine plans to increase the capabilities of units conducting long-range strikes on Russian targets. Ukrainian drones and missiles are already able to hit targets on Russian territory from Yamal to Western Siberia, and it is intended to further increase their range.

President Vladimir Zelensky said this on October 30, following a report on the results of long-range operations in September and October.

According to the head of state, the Ukrainian military regularly conducts operations against targets on Russian territory. The President thanked the participants in these strikes and stressed that Ukraine will continue to develop its own long-range capabilities.

One of the key decisions will be to scale up long-range strike units. They will be expanded based on the capabilities of the Security Service of Ukraine, in particular the "Alpha" Special Operations Center, as well as intelligence structures and other components of the Defense Forces.

Zelensky said that following the discussion, key directions for the further employment of Ukrainian long-range weapons were identified. The President did not specify the timing of the expansion of the units, their numbers, or additional volumes of weapons.

Separately, the head of state held talks with manufacturers of the relevant weapons. Ukraine continues to work on increasing the range of drones and missiles in order to be able to hit targets in even more remote regions of Russia.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military has already reported strikes on Russian oil refining and gas industry facilities at a significant distance from the Ukrainian border. In particular, in August, Zelensky announced the hit on an enterprise in Tobolsk, Tyumen Region, at a distance of more than 2,500 kilometers.

In September, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces also reported an attack on gas condensate industry facilities in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of Russia.

According to Zelensky, the development of long-range weapons should not only strengthen Ukraine's capabilities during the war, but also become one of the elements of the state's long-term security after the end of hostilities.
