Four state-owned banks in Ukraine — PrivatBank, Oschadbank, Ukreximbank and Sense Bank — posted combined net profit of UAH 14.14 billion in the third quarter of 2026. This is 39.6% less than in the same period last year, when the figure stood at UAH 23.43 billion.
This is evidenced by the interim financial reports of PrivatBank, Oschadbank, Ukreximbank and Sense Bank for the nine months of 2026, containing separate indicators for July–September.
Thus, over the year the combined quarterly profit of the four banks decreased by UAH 9.29 billion. Nevertheless, all four financial institutions ended the third quarter with a positive result.
The most notable decline compared to last year's figure was recorded by Oschadbank. Its net profit for July–September decreased by 7.2 times — from UAH 4.19 billion to UAH 583.3 million. Pre-tax profit fell fourfold — from UAH 5.69 billion to UAH 1.42 billion.
At the same time, Oschadbank's net interest income increased by 3% to UAH 8.44 billion. One of the factors behind the deterioration in the financial result was a change in loan loss provisions. In the third quarter, the bank formed UAH 933.6 million of provisions for expected credit losses, whereas a year earlier, on the contrary, it released provisions of UAH 1.23 billion.
Ukreximbank also significantly reduced its profit. In the third quarter, it earned UAH 961.13 million compared to UAH 2.74 billion a year earlier. Thus, net profit decreased almost 2.9 times. Pre-tax profit amounted to UAH 1.94 billion versus UAH 2.74 billion for the same period of 2025.
Sense Bank also showed a deterioration in quarterly results. Its net profit decreased by 2.8 times — from UAH 743.09 million to UAH 263.57 million. Pre-tax profit decreased from UAH 734 million to UAH 546.65 million.
For the nine months of 2026, Sense Bank earned UAH 1.12 billion in net profit compared to UAH 2.64 billion in January–September last year. At the same time, net interest income for the nine months increased by 19.4% to UAH 6.94 billion, and net fee and commission income rose by 23.1% to UAH 1.88 billion.
The largest contribution to the four banks' combined quarterly result continues to be provided by PrivatBank. It accounts for the bulk of the profit earned, despite a decline in the overall figure compared to last year.
The fall in net profit takes place against the backdrop of a higher tax burden on Ukrainian banks. In 2026, the banking sector is subject to a profit tax rate of 50%, whereas in 2025 it was 25%. However, the results of individual banks indicate that profits are also affected by loan loss provisions, operating expenses and changes in income.
The presented figures relate to four state-owned banks and do not reflect the results of the entire banking system of Ukraine. In particular, this sample does not include the state-owned Ukrgasbank.
