Ukrainian soldiers destroyed a Russian Mi-8 helicopter in Luhansk region using Hornet attack drones. The helicopter was hit after landing, as a result of which it completely burned down.

This was reported on October 30 by the press service of the Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, publishing a video of the destruction of the Russian aviation equipment.

According to the military, the operation was carried out by pilots of the SKYFOM attack drone platoon of the Unmanned Systems Battalion of the Third Separate Assault Brigade.

During the operation against Russian military logistics, Ukrainian operators detected the Mi-8 helicopter and attempted to intercept it in the air. The Russian crew noticed the threat and began to change flight direction.

However, the speed of the helicopter was higher than the speed of the Ukrainian drones, so it was not possible to hit it directly in the air.

After the Mi-8 landed, Ukrainian soldiers attacked it with Hornet strike drones. The first drone hit the helicopter, and the second delivered a follow-up strike. According to the Third Army Corps, the Russian vehicle completely burned down as a result of the two hits.

The published footage shows the detection of the helicopter, its subsequent destruction, and the aftermath of the attack.

The Mi-8 is a multi-purpose helicopter of Soviet design, which the Russian army uses for transporting personnel, carrying military cargo, evacuating the wounded, and supporting ground units.

Earlier, drone operators of the Third Assault Brigade also reported the destruction of a Russian transporter-loader vehicle intended for servicing the Buk-M3 air defense missile system.
