US Secretary of State Marco Rubio did not rule out that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would take part in the December G20 summit in Florida. However, Donald Trump has not yet decided on his participation.
Rubio said this on October 31 at a press conference in Atlanta after the G20 foreign ministers' meeting, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to the head of American diplomacy, Zelensky's presence is possible with positive developments. He did not announce specific agreements regarding the participation of the Ukrainian president.
The G20 leaders' summit is scheduled for December 14–15 in Miami. Ukraine is not part of the group, so its president's participation requires a separate invitation.
Zelensky previously expressed readiness to come to the summit if he receives an invitation from the US. As Kurs reported, Washington also invited Vladimir Putin, but his personal presence remained unconfirmed.
Thus, Rubio's statement keeps the possibility of Zelensky's participation, but does not yet confirm his trip or negotiations with other leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
