The "Air Alarm" app partially resumed operation on the night of November 2 after a cyberattack. Users are again receiving push notifications about air alarms, and the map displays information about danger levels. At the same time, the display of targets remains temporarily disabled.
This was reported by the service team on the official Telegram channel. Currently, the map shows two danger levels: yellow, indicating a drone threat, and red, indicating a threat of a massive drone or missile attack.
On the evening of November 1, unknown persons gained unauthorized access to the app. Users began receiving false alerts about radiation and chemical hazards, street fighting, and a threat of Russia using the "Oreshnik" missile. Some of the messages were in Russian.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine then stated that the information about a radiation threat was false and urged citizens to rely on official messages.
After the incident, the developers disabled push notifications and temporarily suspended the app's operation. Subsequently, they managed to restore some functions. The team reported that they are implementing additional security measures to prevent similar cyberattacks.
According to the developers, the app does not store or use personal data, so there is no risk of data leakage as a result of the incident. At the same time, users were urged not to follow links from suspicious notifications under any circumstances.
Until full restoration of all service functions, it is recommended to verify information about air threats through official channels of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and local authorities. The State Emergency Service emphasized that the national alert system and street sirens are operating normally.
