Russian troops used the humanitarian ceasefire in the area of temporarily occupied Oleshky in Kherson region for rotation of units, strengthening positions and delivering ammunition. Ukrainian military recorded such enemy activity during the ceasefire regime, which was in effect from October 27 to November 1.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on November 2, summing up the results of the humanitarian operation.
According to the military command, Russian units took advantage of the pause to equip their positions. In particular, the movement of personnel, reinforcement of defensive fortifications, expansion of anti-drone protection on roads and buildup of military logistics were recorded.
Separately, the General Staff confirmed the delivery of ammunition to Russian military during the humanitarian ceasefire. At the same time, the report does not mention violations of the ceasefire by opening fire. It is specifically about using the humanitarian pause to strengthen military positions.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces, according to the General Staff, adhered to the reached agreements and acted exclusively within their limits. This allowed delivering humanitarian cargo to Oleshky and ensuring the return to Ukraine-controlled territory of civilians who wished to leave the occupied city.
Recall that the local ceasefire began on October 27 at 03:00 Kyiv time and ended on November 1 at 22:59. The agreements were reached through the mediation of US First Lady Melania Trump for conducting the humanitarian operation.
Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets announced after the completion of the mission that the parties fulfilled their commitments. According to him, Ukraine and Russia are already discussing the possibility of continuing such humanitarian measures.
Earlier, it was reported about the concerns of the Ukrainian military that Russia could use the temporary ceasefire for regrouping forces and preparing new attacks on the Kherson direction. The current statement of the General Staff confirms the facts of rotation and strengthening of the enemy's positions, but does not contain conclusions about the preparation of a specific offensive operation.
