The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has started food procurement for the Armed Forces and the State Special Transport Service for 2027. The estimated cost of procurement is UAH 43.8 billion, and the calculated price of a food set per serviceman will increase.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this on November 2, Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The Defense Procurement Agency DOT has set the estimated cost of a food set per person in 2027 at UAH 181.74 compared to UAH 171.48 in 2026. Thus, the calculated price increased by UAH 10.26, or about 6%.
The department explained the price increase by rising energy costs and inflation. At the same time, final prices will be determined based on tender results. For comparison, under contracts from the previous year, the cost of a food set ranged from 120 to 155 UAH.
In addition to cost, the Ministry of Defense revised food quality requirements. The catalog has completely updated descriptions of all 360 items. These changes were approved back in June 2026, and are now used during procurements for the next year.
In particular, energy value indicators have been defined for products, and for meat, fish, and dairy products, to which relevant state standards apply, data on protein and fat content per 100 grams have been added.
For frozen meat and poultry, the moisture content indicator has been standardized - the set limit must not exceed 5%. For vegetables and fruits, minimum and maximum sizes have been defined.
Compliance with the new requirements will be checked by specialists of the Main Directorate of State Quality Assurance. Checks will be selective.
Also, the Defense Procurement Agency will apply the SLA supplier evaluation system. It allows monitoring compliance with delivery deadlines, completeness of supplies, and performance of other contractual obligations.
Procurements for 2027 have been divided into more than 20 lots of varying value and scope. Supply will be organized on a regional basis: each supplier will be assigned a specific region.
The Ministry of Defense noted that it has been carrying out food procurement in advance for the third year in a row. This should give companies time to prepare production and logistics to ensure timely supply of products to military units in 2027.
