In Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, Kyiv region, on November 2, information spread about the alleged illegal detention of about 40 people in the basement of a private house. It was claimed that armed men were allegedly holding the people, and arrived medics were not allowed inside the building. Police officers and representatives of the National Guard of Ukraine went to the scene and began to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
This was reported by Ukrinform citing the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine. Initial information about the incident appeared on social networks and local Telegram channels.
According to these reports, in the basement of one of the buildings in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, about 40 people were allegedly held and not released outside. The authors of the publications claimed that access to the people was controlled by armed men.
It was also circulated that four people inside were allegedly in critical condition and needed urgent medical assistance.
According to preliminary reports, an ambulance team arrived at the building, but medical workers were not allowed inside. At the same time, the source of information about the number of detained people and their health status was not established.
As StopKor notes, at the time of the first reports, there was no confirmed information about the exact address of the building, the circumstances of the people staying in the basement, and the reasons for the alleged non-admission of medics.
Later the situation was officially commented on by the National Guard of Ukraine. The department confirmed that police officers and medical workers did indeed arrive at the private house in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka.
According to the National Guard, the reason for the call was a report about obstruction of a medical examination of men who were inside the building.
Subsequently, representatives of the department clarified that the report came from employees of a private emergency medical service. The medics reported that they were being prevented from accessing a citizen who needed a medical examination.
The arriving law enforcement officers established that the incident occurred near a private house where servicemen of one of the units of the National Guard of Ukraine were present.
The National Guard denied reports of illegal detention of people and a fatality. The department emphasized that such information does not correspond to reality.
In addition, as of the time of the official statement, no information on dead or injured as a result of the incident had been received.
To clarify the circumstances, the leadership of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv region and the command of the corresponding unit of the National Guard arrived at the scene.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the medics' call and the reasons why they were prevented from conducting a medical examination. At the same time, it was not officially specified how many people were inside the building and whether medical workers were able to access the person in need of help.
Also, no detentions or criminal proceedings related to the incident were reported. The final results of the check have not yet been published.
The National Guard stated that the situation is being resolved. The department urged citizens not to spread unverified reports and to use official sources of information.
Additional information about the incident is promised after all circumstances are finally clarified.
Thus, law enforcement officers confirmed the fact of the incident involving medical workers near a private house where National Guard servicemen were present, but the reports of the detention of 40 people did not receive official confirmation.
