Amid the rise in quotations of the non-cash dollar on the interbank foreign exchange market, which was observed on Monday, the cash dollar also rushed to new heights. Price tags in various cities changed depending on the availability of dollars in bank branches and the appetites of local wholesalers.
In Kyiv, by Monday evening, large batches of "white" dollars (i.e., old-style dollars) could be bought at 46.85 UAH. The increase compared to last Friday was 43 kopecks.
In regional centers, the cost of the cash dollar started from 46.80 UAH in Lviv to 47.30 UAH in Kharkiv. In Dnipro, the dollar was sold at 46.95 UAH, and in Odesa – at 47.10 UAH. Compared with last Friday, the increase in Dnipro and Lviv was 35 kopecks, while in Kharkiv and Odesa the dollar rose by 55 kopecks immediately.
Ukrainian banks, finally assessing the situation, also decided to grab their piece of the "speculative" pie and began to raise prices on the boards in their branches. The cheapest dollar by the end of Monday was sold at 45.90 UAH in Ukrgasbank, Oxi Bank and OTP Bank. The most expensive dollar by the evening was found in Zaporizhzhia's Metabank – at 47.00 UAH.
Following the dollar, euro price tags also flew up. By the evening of today, the minimum selling price for the euro started from 51.20 UAH in Oxi Bank, while the most expensive euro – at 52.70 UAH – was also sold in Metabank.
The gap between the value of non-cash and cash dollar continues to grow. By Monday evening, it grew by another 7 kopecks to 1.15 UAH. As we can see, the excitement in the cash currency market is not subsiding, but only gaining momentum. We are waiting for the National Bank to intervene and restore order.
