On Monday, November 2, Russian troops carried out a series of airstrikes on the village of Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia region. A school used for distributing humanitarian aid to local residents came under fire. As a result of the attack, at least 24 people were killed and five others were injured.

This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on his Telegram channel.

According to the head of state, Russian aviation attacked the village several times in the morning with guided aerial bombs. One of the targets was a school where local residents regularly received humanitarian aid.

After the first airstrike, Russian troops delivered a second strike with nine more aerial bombs, specifically targeting the shelter where people were located.

Zelensky reported that as of the evening of November 2, the death of 18 people had been confirmed. Five more were injured. Data on the consequences of the shelling continue to be clarified.

A search and rescue operation is ongoing at the site of the attack. Rescuers, military personnel, and employees of special services are involved in dealing with the aftermath. According to the president, the work is being carried out under difficult conditions, and the search for people continues.

The head of state emphasized that the Russian side could not have been unaware of the school's humanitarian purpose. He said that the residents of Komyshuvakha who remained in the village came there weekly for help.

The president linked the incident to Russia's unwillingness to take real steps towards de-escalation. He recalled the recently concluded humanitarian operation in Oleshky, Kherson region, during which an agreed ceasefire regime was in effect.

According to Zelensky, an attack on people receiving humanitarian aid demonstrates the need to strengthen international pressure on Russia and further support for Ukraine.

Updated. Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Mykhailo Semikin reported that Russian occupiers struck the center of the village with at least nine guided aerial bombs FAB-3000.

“Eighteen people were killed, including a police officer and two SES rescuers. Five were wounded. Another 27 people are considered missing,” he wrote.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site.

The SES reported that the number of deaths as a result of the airstrike by Russian invaders has risen to 24, including 2 rescuers and 4 police officers. Another 5 people were injured, including 2 rescuers.

The final number of casualties may be clarified after the search and rescue operations are completed.
