In Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, Kyiv region, on the evening of November 2, clashes occurred between police and people gathered near a building housing servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers used special means to control the crowd. Earlier, social media spread reports of alleged detention of about 40 people in the basement of this building.

The clashes were reported by UNIAN, which published videos from the scene. There was no official confirmation of the use of special means by the police at the time of publication.

According to journalists, before the clashes began, the gathering participants threw eggs at the police. The released footage shows a large number of people near the building, with conflicts arising between them and law enforcement officers.

Later the situation escalated. As reported by UNIAN, police used special means in an attempt to push back the crowd. Information about casualties directly during these clashes has not yet been confirmed.

The confrontation began after reports emerged that armed men in the basement of a private house allegedly held about 40 people. It was claimed that some of them need medical assistance, but the medics who arrived are not allowed inside.

Subsequently, local residents and relatives of the servicemen gathered near the building. Some participants tried to force open the gates, kicking them and demanding access to the people inside. According to media reports, foam and presumably tear gas were sprayed from the building's territory towards the crowd.

Kyiv region police earlier denied information about the illegal detention of 40 people and the alleged death of one of them.

In an official statement, law enforcement officers explained that they received a call from employees of a private emergency medical service. The medics said they were being prevented from accessing a citizen in need of a medical examination.

Arriving police found that the incident was taking place near a private house where servicemen of a National Guard unit were staying.

Later, National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko told UNIAN that the building was used for temporary accommodation of servicemen. According to him, four soldiers who needed medical care were sent to a National Guard medical facility.

The commander also announced the start of an internal investigation. The inquiry is to establish the circumstances of the servicemen's stay and possible violations by officials.

In addition, the Office of the Military Ombudsman of Ukraine has launched its own investigation into the incident. Military Ombudsman Olha Reshetylova said the servicemen are safe and receiving the necessary medical care. Her office expects cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the SBU in clarifying the circumstances.

Thus, the information about mass detention of people has not been officially confirmed. At the same time, the circumstances of the conflict, the initial denial of access to medics, and the subsequent clashes with police continue to be investigated.
