In Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, Kyiv region, on the evening of November 2, people began to be taken out of the building around which clashes between police and local residents had previously occurred. According to reports from the scene, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, also became involved in resolving the situation.
Information about Budanov's presence appeared amid reports of the withdrawal of servicemen from the building. At the time of publication, official confirmation of his arrival from the Office of the President could not be obtained.
Earlier, the National Guard of Ukraine reported taking measures to bring people out of the premises. The agency assured that all those in need would be provided with the necessary assistance.
According to the National Guard, some relatives of servicemen and members of the public were allowed to enter the building. They were able to see the conditions in which the men were staying and talk to them.
The commander of the National Guard, Oleksandr Pivnenko, had previously arrived to resolve the conflict. He met with relatives of the servicemen and journalists, and also participated in clarifying the circumstances of the incident.
The 1st Corps of the National Guard "Azov" explained that the building housed mobilized servicemen and soldiers detained after leaving their unit without permission (SOCH), who were awaiting further assignment.
The command also confirmed that four servicemen had injuries after going SOCH. They were sent to a medical facility for examination. The circumstances of how the injuries were sustained are being established.
Military ombudsman Olha Reshetylova joined the investigation. Representatives of her Office are working together with the National Guard command. In addition, the National Guard announced an internal investigation into possible violations.
Recall that the conflict in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka began after information spread on social networks that about 40 men were allegedly illegally held in the basement of a private house. It was claimed that some people needed medical assistance, but doctors were not allowed inside.
After that, local residents and relatives of the servicemen gathered near the building. People demanded access to the men inside. Subsequently, clashes with law enforcement occurred, during which, according to media reports, the police used special means.
The Kyiv region police denied reports of the illegal detention of 40 hostages and the death of a person. Law enforcement confirmed that the initial call came from private ambulance staff, who were prevented from accessing a citizen in need of a medical examination.
Final conclusions regarding the conditions of the servicemen's stay, the causes of the conflict, and possible violations of their rights have not yet been made public. These circumstances are to be established during inspections.
