Water supply has been temporarily halted in Kyiv due to the power outage at the main facilities of "Kyivvodokanal". The cause was Russian attacks and damage to the capital's energy infrastructure. The timing of water supply restoration is currently unknown.
This was reported on November 3 by the press service of "Kyivvodokanal".
"As a result of enemy attacks and damage to the capital's energy infrastructure, the main water supply facilities of Kyivvodokanal have been de-energized. Due to this, water supply in the city is currently temporarily absent", - the company stated.
Specialists of the water utility, together with energy companies, are working on restoring electricity supply to the facilities necessary for water supply to consumers.
The company emphasized that even after electricity is restored, water supply cannot be resumed instantly.
Additional time will be needed for the full launch of the system to restore equipment operation, fill water supply networks, and stabilize pressure.
This means that water supply to residential buildings may be restored gradually. Meanwhile, the terms for completing emergency restoration works are currently not disclosed.
"Kyivvodokanal" promised to provide additional updates on changes in the situation and restoration of water supply.
Earlier on November 3, the Kyiv City State Administration warned only about possible temporary water interruptions due to the power outage at the main facilities of the water utility.
However, the company itself clarified that water supply in the capital is already temporarily absent.
We remind you that on the morning of November 3, after a massive Russian attack on energy infrastructure, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv and a number of regions.
As previously reported by "Kurs Ukrainy", Russian troops attacked energy facilities in ten regions. Due to equipment damage and the difficult situation in the power system, operators were forced to apply emergency power supply restrictions.
Power outages affect not only household consumers but also the operation of critical infrastructure, including water pumping stations.
During the absence of centralized water supply, the capital's residents can check the locations of city artesian well rooms on the electronic map of "Kyivvodfond". At the same time, the availability of a particular well room depends on its power supply situation.
"Kyivvodokanal" assured that together with energy companies they are taking all possible measures to restore water supply as soon as possible.
